lessonofcriminology,andonethatIthinkthevastmajorityofpeopleunderstandonsomelevel.Evensuperheroes,thefictionalcharactersthatourcultureimbueswithspecialpowersasaformofwishfulfillmentinthefighFale estranhos!tainstcrime,don’tsucceedateliminatingcrimealtogether.Inrecentyears,itseemslikethewholeworldhasbecomemoreornery.Maybethathassomethingtodowiththepandemic,orwithpoliticaldisreements.Whateverthereason,peoplehebecomefastertoattack,andslowertorecognizeeachother’ssharedhumanity.Oneaspectofthishasbeenaconstantbarreofattacksoncommunicationservices,Omegleincluded,basedonthebehiorofamalicioussubsetofusers.Toanextent,itisreasonabletoquestionthepoliciesandpracticesofanyplacewherecrimehasoccurred.Ihealwayswelcomedconstructivefeedback;andindeed,Omegleimplementedanumberofimprovementsbasedonsuchfeedbackovertheyears.However,therecentattackshefeltanythingbutconstructive.Theonlywaytopleasethesepeopleistostopofferingtheservice.Sometimestheysayso,explicitlyandowedly;othertimes,itcanbeinferredfromtheiractofsettingstandardsthatarenothumanlyachievable.Eitherway,thenetresultisthesame.Omegleisthedirecttargetoftheseattacks,buttheirultimatevictimisyou:allofyououttherewhoheused,orwouldheused,Omegletoimproveyourlives,andthelivesofothers.WhentheysayOmegleshouldn’texist,theyarereallysayingthatyoushouldn’tbeallowedtouseiFale
